The OT and Women, Sexism, and Modernization

B H Howdy folks! ... I’m probably bringing up something that has most likely already been discussed ad nauseam...but I’d like others perspectives. If there are other posts I apologize! These verses in Genesis, along with many other biblical verses, have been used to justify sexism. That woman is inferior to man and was created specifically to be helper to man. As a young woman and feminist I obviously take issue with this. What are your interpretations of these verses? Do you believe they justify sexism? Are they simply a product of the time in which the Bible was written? Do you believe that God considers women less than man? Has it been twisted? What are your takes? I’m genuinely curious, open to all opinions. Thanks! (Gen 2: 19)
*** Ma Rego Mont The OT is best treated as putty in modern hands for high integrity and modernized Jesus-standards, which, like the pioneering Anti-Slavery Social Movemnts, is the Jewish Jesus´ groundshaking legacy through the Gentiles. Textual interpretation is a refined scholarly pursuit, as far as it goes, and part of the Reformation-Scientific-Enlightenment processes that include critical historical Biblical studies. Modern culture with the mindset, history, and diverse resources to have had the OT Jewish prophetic culture combined with the Roman and ancient Greek cultures to allow Jesus´ legacy in Christian modernization is important to have laid out clearly. University-based scholarship, secularized Christian in history and expectations, along with Social Movements and sci-tech culture, has developed a tension between technology-and-socially-enhanced gender-egalitarian opportunities and preparation, that has not altered such biological bases as breastfeeding and in frequency of paternal aggressive play, and their evolutionary rationale. That also relates to information related to Harlow´s baby monkey studies in which baby monkeys don´t prefer a wire-food mommy substitute, but a fluffy towel mommy. Moreover, maternal deprivation causes acute emotional trauma related to critical periods, comparable to some human orphans and broken family situations. Again, all this can benefit from complex analysis and understanding conditions and choices, contexts, and consequences.
That includes understanding Developmental Psychology, Human Potential, and Transpersonal issues, historical development, sociology, and anthropology. Christianity went beyond Jewish restrictions quickly in Paul´s comments. Household worship elevated women no less up to Constantine, and his mom (Mother) Empress St. Helena. Anthony of the Desert´s monasticism instituted spiritual pursuit and a track for women. The Quaker-Friends were early high integrity Christians founded in the 1600s UK by low gradeschool educated George Fox, and woman had elevated status in their denomination from the start, witness the 1800s US´s Lucretia Mott and Susan B Anthony, who flirted with Unitarianism and partnered with the secular EC Stanton. The 1800s UK´s FD Maurice started Queen´s College for women before the Workingmen´s College a little later, decades after Mary Wollstonecraft´s Rights of Women. It´s worth noting that Germany had Petra Kelly who founded the 1980 Green Party and Ursula Sladek who led a 1990s green energy citizen co-op takeover of a local grid, and has Catholic activists currently bucking and kicking about increasing women´s roles in that denomination (many of them hate that humble status....ouch!).
